Superhero of the Week: Ava Biesterfeld
|

This week we have 2 superheroes to recognize! First, we congratulate Ava Biesterfeld, a senior at Wisconsin Lutheran High School.

In her spare time, which is usually limited by her hectic schedule, she loves spending time with her family and friends, singing, working at Culver's, and thinking creatively.

Ava is involved in her school and church communities. She participated in cross country in the fall and is currently competing in track and field. She competed at State last year!

Aside from sports, she is also involved in the fine arts at Wisconsin Lutheran. She has participated in musicals and has been involved in the Wisco Kids show choir and A Capella Choir.

Ava likes to volunteer for her Church, Star of Bethlehem, by serving as a Sunday School teacher and singing in church. She also helps elderly members with yard work. Ava is also a part of Wisco Witnesses in the World, which is a volunteer group. She also is part of the National Honor Society and has been on the honor roll all 8 semesters of high school.

Ava is focused on leadership and has participated in both Viking Christian Leader Academy and Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. These help students become leaders by finding their strengths and using them for the work of God by helping others.

Ava has had the privilege of leading things like the Veterans Day service and the annual Kids Carnival. She is also a leader of a committee called Our Hands For His Service, a mission organization Wisconsin Lutheran has to fund mission work and help small countries worldwide. Currently, they are fundraising for mission work to be done in Thailand and Zambia.

Ava was also given the Viking Christian Leader Award for integrity and is a part of the HOPE squad, which focuses on helping students with their mental health. She was accepted to go on the Civil Rights trip her junior year and has also been on two mission trips and will be running a sports camp in St. Lucia this summer!

Ava plans to attend Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) in the fall and major in mechanical engineering and also will be on the track team. She hopes one day to work for NASA or Space X.

"God has given me so much and I have been so blessed with the people in my life and the opportunities I have been given! All praise to God!" she said.
